Face Fit Testing OPEN DAY

Duration:1 day

Why Face Fit Test?

  • The purpose of undergoing a face fit test is to check the fit and effectiveness of the face mask being used as a personal protective measure.
  • People's faces vary in shape and size.  A mask that fits one person may not fit another.  A Face Fit Test confirms that the specific make, model, and size of mask is right for the individual.
  • Carrying out testing ensures the mask provides proper protection by sealing correctly to the wearer’s face, reducing exposure to hazardous substances like dust, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, employers must ensure that RPE (Respiratory Protective Equipment) is suitable and correctly fitted.  A Face Fit Test is part of meeting this legal duty.

The Process

  • Testing takes between 20 and 30 minutes.
  • The candidate undergoing the testing will be required to perform some basic tasks, while wearing their mask, to enable the assessor to determine whether there is a good seal and that the wearer is therefore receiving appropriate protection from the mask.
  • If a candidate's mask is found to provide insufficient respiratory protection, we will advise on adjustments to make; or an alternative mask to purchase, should this be required.  We will then conduct a re-test (1 additional test is included in the price).
  • A report detailing the results of the testing will be issued electronically after completion of the test, which is valid until such a time that the candidate changes masks, or there is a significant change to their face shape (including growing facial hair).
