Competence
This course will enable delegates to ensure that safety issues are managed efficiently, protecting the workforce, other people and the general environment, and will ensure that legal compliance is achieved. This will be achieved through discussions, case studies, group and individual presentations, and your own self study outside of the timetabled course hours.

The SMSTS certificate lasts for 5 years. If you wish to maintain your accreditation, you will need to attend a 2-day SMSTS Refresher course prior to the initial certificate expiring. Completing the refresher course will ensure you do not lose your qualification; and will cover any changes to legislation and best practice changes which have occurred since you passed the original course.
